Be very afraid...as you may have seen scrolling the posts, I drove the 991C4S yesterday, can't stop thinking about it. I generally like my cars to have some unique features, and the 991 I drove doesn't have anything like that but still loved it.

For me, it would depend on the choice of transmission. I really enjoy the 6 speed on my 997.2. IMHO, the MT in the 991 feels like an afterthought or compromise to appease those who enjoy shifting gears using the 3rd pedal. Make no mistake, I have great respect for the technical prowess of PDK. My lap times at PSDS Birmingham were much much quicker with PDK. If you want PDK, then the 991 would be the way to go. If you like rev-matching, then the 997.2 is a no brainer!

True but let's not forget that's the initial price differance. The 997 has already depreciated significantly whereas the 991 hasn't. So after three years the price differance will be a lot more than 12K.

If I liked both cars equally, I'd certainly go with the 997, especially if I could have it checked out by a Porsche certified mechanic that I trusted. A CPO late model 997 is typically an outstanding value, especially by Porsche standards.

I bought a 2012 997 S cab new. I figured I saved 20k and 6 months by not waiting for a 991. There was a trade of my 99 996 also. I spent two days at the Porsche driving school driving 991's. Is it an improvement over the 997. Yes however I didn't notice huge differences between the two. When I got home and drove my 997 until I pushed it in extreme corners that I could detect those slight improvements on the street. If I was tracking both cars it would probably be more apparent.

Went through this in Dec. Ended up in a loaded new 2012 Targa 4S for over 20k off. No regrets, loving every minute, can see us keeping it forever.

There will be more and better 991s, but this is the dusk of a new/near-new 997...and at fantastic deep discounts to boot. Get the 997 and have the 991 to look forward to.
