Bumping - for those who have replaced, how flush is the new cowel? Mine has a pretty good size gap between the rubber and the windscreen on each side, and I wonder if that is an issue. Will debris/water cause an issue there? If you can post pics for how flush or not flush yours is I'd appreciate it.

Mine has a gap on one side, no issues. Make sure the drains are clear.
Mine had a gap at both corners right after I replaced it, but it's mostly gone on both sides after the rubber had a few months to settle into shape. I'll try to post pictures tonight once I'm back near the car. No leaks so far, even after a couple of rains and a trip through a touchless car wash.
Mine right on the corners (both sides) lift up to where I can pretty easily get a finger under it. I take it there is no glue there that would hold this against the windshield? In storage now but I will see if I can stop by and grab a photo.
OK - got pics, is this a normal amount of gap between the windshield and cowl?
Also, does everyone have this bracket? Or possibly this is 997.2 only? I was just in here yesterday (in my 997.1) and do not have a bracket here - maybe last time this was replaced someone didn't put the bracket back.
Original for me. Everyonce in a while, I pull the cowl bolts and trapazoidal washers to try and flatten it out... I tug and pull.... eh. Next time I will use my heat gun on it and try and flatten it out. Honestly it really doesn't matter as water still drains to the same place. Keep your drains clear!

Mine looks exactly the same, no water leaks, no issues. I've bought a new cowl, haven't gotten around to changing it.

Same place as mine .. 2005 997
I was planning to pull mine and gently apply a heat gun and pressure to reshape to fit again.
Just came across this thread because of noticing the same on my 2009 997.2. So, is it my understanding that a gap between the windshield cowl rubber and the windshield is okay as long as the drains are clear? It looks as if that cowl rubber is the only seal the windshield has to keep water out lol.
