From David Murray
It is with disappointment that we must make the following announcement:
Today, we were informed by the Executive Vice President of the track that the dates March 12-13, 2013 were no longer available to us. COTA stated that they were reserving those dates for "team testing" after having confirmed, very recently, that they were available to us.
We are removing COTA from our schedule and will refund all event payments immediately.
While we understand that tracks have their choice as to who/when to rent their facility, we are frustrated and disappointed by the way that this deal was handled.
David and I regret the inconvenience that this caused you.

Go to Facebook and let COTA and the world know how wrong this is.

Very odd as to what COTA is thinking with this type of errant behavior. Voice your opinion here:

I'm not part of this and have no skin in the game but wtf? It's on, no it's off, sorry you are confirmed and good to go and then you're not. We'd all like to drive on an F1 track but this is ridiculous. Can someone send COTA execs to business 101? dave

I would love the opportunity to drive COTA, so negotiations with them would be in everyone's best interest. I doubt telling them publicly how poorly they are handling this matter probably won't help much at all. Does anyone know why they are acting this way and pulling dates that have been previously confirmed?

If I had o guess I'd day that the recent success I the f1 race and it bring a new track means that the track has big money being thrown at it and doesn't want o waste resources on the little guys. If given the choice between renting the track to Porsche for a week to tune race cars for events vs. pca for time trials...
Everyone wants to get a chance to go aroun the big bad new track.

And to be honest, I can't fault the track mgmt for that decision (mo' money). To cancel a confirmed date and offer it to others, otoh, isn't in their best interest long term. I remember when I ran Watkins Glen for the first time in ITS - I was in awe. So wide, so smooth, clearly on another level. I would love a shot at that uphill turn 1 - looks awesome. My guess is PCA is barely on the radar of COTA mgmt at this time.
