Default tight turn = rubbing/grinding?

Hey all, happy holidays!

Quick question. Hopefully someone has insight. The other day when i was in a parking lot and turning in a circle to go back to the exit i realized that if i turn the steering wheel all the way left or right to its limit and then drive in a circle it feels as though something is rubbing or grinding up front...could feeel it through minor vibratoions and if i recall correctly, slight noise accompanying it.

I have the standard 18 carrera ii's on it i believe.

Any thoughts? Is this normal?

Is your car all wheel drive?? Does it feel the same way making a sharp left turn?? If so that is norman for an all wheel drive model. I have a Targa 4 and I get the same thing making sharp turns in either direction.

it could just be the tires slipping on the pavement. When the wheel is at full turn, the rolling radius is not exactly perfect so you can "slip" a bit. The tread sliding and grabbing the pavement can feel a lot like grinding. To be sure, jack up the car and look real good at the front tires, inside and out. Just look for any signs of the tires hitting anything.

Have you got the normal sized tires on it? You haven't put anything larger than called for on it?

These cars shouldn't do that--how many miles on the car? Maybe need to tighten up suspension pieces.

I've got an '09 C2S and have noted the same thing. I've assumed it was the tires slipping on the pavement as I can't come up with a better explanation.

All 3 porsches that i have owned (06 Boxster, 08 Cayman S, and now 06 C2s) have done this making sharp slow turns when it is cold out. I was also told this was normal on other forums.

My 07 C2S does the same thing. Mine's almost more of a shudder that's felt in the steering wheel. Always thought it must be steering pump problem or something.
