Guys....your beautiful State California is bankrupt. Rest assure the Governors Tax Collectors (Police) will be looking for more income and I'm shocked that they are letting this slide. I drove for years without a front license plate and when Illinois started laying off fire fighters and police because of the economy I received 5-tickets.

I had enough of Chicago and moved the hell out right at the knee of the curve with the housing bust. Probably the only good' financial thing I've ever done. Chicago is a Communist City that sucks the life out of everything including your bank account. I don't miss that place a bit and the 10 years I lived there was 9 years too long.
Sorry about your Good State. California is one of the most beautiful places in the World from the boarder of Mexico all the way to Oregon...just keeps getting better as you travel the coast. That said, I would never pay to live there. It's just principle for me.

You have no idea - or maybe you do. It is so bad that in Oakland you need a city permit to do anything on your house. Put a new door in, need a permit; change a window, need a permit, etc., etc. The city is so bankrupt that it sends building inspectors into the Oakland hills looking for work truck and/or debris, then checks to see if a permit was issued for that address (I'd see this all the time riding my bike in the hills during the day). No permit, big fine. (I think Jerry Brown got the idea when he was mayor as he lives in the hills and, being Jerry Brown, he is always looking for revenue.) Meanwhile, contractors waste hours waiting for inspectors to show up and look over projects that do have permits.

Never had a plate on my Porsches. You will always get a ticket in LAX if you park overnight. And once got one in Santa Monica parked on the road in a metered spot. Apart from that, its been fine.

I work on the westside (Santa Monica, Century City, ...) and I have finally decided to put my 'low profile plate'. Here are pics NOW (these are not before and after pics). I call my setup "now you see the plate, now you don't" -- you only see my plate at certain angles.
