Mine had several curb rash, removed it, sanded the rashes to remove the sharp scratch edges, and applied Krylon Gloss Black.

Does anyone have the part number for the two screws that help keep it in place?

Anyone go over with a clear coat over the SEM trim black to give it some protection? Or is that not necessary

Anyone's SEM Trim Paint come out like this? I sanded with 200-400 grit and then wiped down with alcohol. Applied 2 coats of SEM.Guessing I just need to resand and reapply.

Default SEM Trim Black - Do not substitute

Like other replies, really appreciate the OP’s post from years ago as well as subsequent posts in this thread. Ever so helpful. Nearly a year ago, at speed, I drove over something (only God knows what) in the dark nearly ripping off the mid section of my front spoiler lip. Severely cracked, it was 50/50 whether it could be repaired vs. needing to be replaced.

At USD550 for a primer painted replacement, I opted to try repairing it. A couple of months ago, I picked up some JB Weld and black trim paint. Well… at the time and conveniently enough, available was some generic black bumper/trim paint. The cap colour looked similar enough, at first glance. So, I just went with that.

Mending the crack was not so bad. And my youngest, my 10 year old daughter, was eager enough to sand and prep the lip for painting …so bonus. Then we painted the lip. Unfortunately, the colour and finish was completely off. The paint was rubberized and faintly textured. I completely regretted not making the effort to find a can of SEM Trim Black recommended the OP and others.

Finally rectified my mistake and repainted the lip recently. Not 100% perfect, but I am pleased with the results. Daughter, once again, insisted she give me a helping hand

How is it attached?
Just ordered another spoiler and have not put on this kind of original spoiler before.
Where did you purchase yours?
OBTW what part of BC are you in?

@bcgreen ... I need to replace one as well. It looks like part number.. 99750598305. At close to $1200, I'm curious to hear from others who have made the fix...seems pricey!

The lip is clipped in and fastened at each end by an expanding nut.
I just noticed others have replied to you, on how these lower spoilers are attached on a separate thread. Hope all has been helpful.

Previous owner added the "Sport Classic/Speedster" lip that came with my 997. It goes through a beating on the streets. I have removed, repaired, and refinished this same old lip on my car several times. Not difficult to re & re.

I live in Vancouver. Cheers!

Can't wait for the spoiler to arrive with hardware
I'm from Burnaby some years ago.

@bcgreen please post a photo when you get it. Looks like the sport classic/speedster lip. My GTS doesn't have this version... There are no intakes on mine.

I bought my Sport Classic lip from Sunset Porsche about a year ago for ~$545 shipped. Not sure what it costs now. It comes in white primer so you need to paint it. I had a local shop paint it satin black but will use SEM when I refresh mine.

bcgreen I bought a universal auto trim kit and one of the pieces (pictured below) is used to secure each end of the lip. There is a pin that pressure fits inside a bigger plug. Here is a kit from Amazon (https://a.co/d/6uHLT1B) that has a similar clip. The rest of the lip simply clips into horizontal slots in the bumper with no hardware required. The trim kit on Amazon is cheap ($13) and handy to have around. I am not sure this specific piece will work for the lip but at least you can see what it looks like. Good luck!

A little over $600 now. Coming from the Porsche dealer will see if I need additional hardware. Can't imagine I would need additional hardware as this is what the dealership would use if they were installing the spoiler.

My lip did not come with hardware. You have to either re-use the clips on your car or buy new ones. It's possible to re-use the clips: pry/pull the pin out of the clip on both ends to release the pressure on the clip and then you can remove the lip from the end of the bumper. The rest is simply pulling the lip off the bumper.
