I am going away on a 6 weeks holiday this dec-Jan... was wondering how to prep the car before I leave?
I got oil change, brake work (pads/rotors), winter wheel, seats replacement to do for winter...
I could do them now, or later. It doesn't matter really when, but was wondering if it's better to have fresh oil on a car that's gonna be stored for 6 weeks, or it wouldn't make any difference?
Thanks

This is hardly a technical response, but i would wait and do these things after you get back. May be difficult if you have it done, park it, come back in 6 weeks and something is not right...did it come from a work error somewhere or just from sitting? I'm sure others will have more scientific rationale for doing it now or doing it later. All I know is six weeks will be a long time not be driving your car! Have a good trip!

6 weeks sitting in the garage is not very long to worry about. You definitely want to connect your battery tender and inflate the tires 5+ lbs. over what's on the door sticker so flat spots in the tires don't form. I fill the gas tank. I also detail the car and then put my car cover on and then lock it.

The oil currently in your car has contamination and moisture, best to replace it with fresh oil for storage. Top off fuel tank to maximum. If you can't use a battery tender, disconnect the battery, remove and store it inside seated on a wooden plank.
Wash it, cover it, give it a good hug, till next time.

My car has been sitting in storage for about 3 months. I'll be picking it up next month. I disconnected the battery since there is no electrical power to the unit. Oil was changed about 1500 miles prior to storage and otherwise was in perfect working order with no codes. I'll let you know what happens good or bad when I go to get it.

They are sold in many places including Amazon. I have used them for many years with great success.
