Question for cabriolet owners: Is it a good idea to apply weather seal or protectant to the top?
If so, how often would you suggest to do so and what product(s) do you use?
Thanks in advance!

I apply in the Fall (depending on how much rain and sun top is exposed to - mine is garage stored and does see rain occasionally). I use the Porsche spray can (dealer gave me a couple of cans when I bought the car).

Raggtopp sells a kit with Cleaner and Protectant and is approved for German fabric cloth tops. Make sure yo get the cloth top kit. Comes with instructions. Don't get the protectant on anything but the top. I use painters plastic tarps lto cover the entire car leaving only the top exposed when applying the protectant and throw them away when I'm done.
Stuff works great.

Have used the Porsche product and Ragtop. I don't see much difference between the two. I try and do my cab tops annually. Have been doing this since 2000.

This.
The package is a cleaner and protectant product. I don't use the cleaner until I'm applying the protectant, as I wash the entire car with a mild car shampoo.
I did buy a horsehair brush that is exclusively used for the top.
I don't go to the masking extent that Dadio does, cause I'm lazy and I found a damp beach towel covers the overspray areas a lot easier. The protectant is an aerosol, so you need to aim it correctly.

both are about the same. porsche one doesn't come with the cleaner so it's cheaper for the spray can alone.
i dont mask when i spray. it won't do anything to the windows but i would avoid getting onto the paint. spray when the weather is calm, not windy.

Ive used them all on my two Boxsters and have found Aerospace 303 to be the BEST by a large margin. It protects better and lasts much longer.
