Default Need help with potential purchase

Having owned a 1998 C2S and just recently sold my 1992 C2 Turbo I am now interested in a 2008 C2S that has 10K miles. It is a one owner and what intrigues me the most is that it is orange in color including the wheels. It also has the aero kit. I test drove the car and really enjoyed the handling and creature comforts that were not in the other two. The only problem, it was somewhat difficult shifting from 1ST to 2ND gear. I complained to the dealer (non-Porsche) and they sent it over to the Porsche dealer next door. They changed the transmission fluid and said there is nothing wrong.

I am to return this weekend to test drive again. From what I have seen on the forum, it can be a hit-or-miss on the 2ND gear issue. Also, will the orange color be a problem when I go to sell it?

Thoughts and comments appreciated.

Don't buy it for the next owner...buy it for you and enjoy it!
Personally, don't like orange...but you get what floats YOUR boat.

You will reduce the pool of likely buyers for sure, but If you like it, go for it! I like it - needs black wheels though!

Awesome. Still think the body color wheels are too much.

It's not gonna be as subtle as your black 993

It is common for 1st to 2nd shift to be hard before the car warms up. Drive it and get it hot then see if the shifting smooths out. The car looks great. Good luck.

Orange? Really? It's fun for five minutes, then you realize you're driving a pumpkin. If you're itching for a wow color, try viper green. Remember, just my opinion.

I am not looking for a "wow" color, it is just the color that I am drawn too. All of my other "toy" cars have been either white, black or silver.

I like unusual-colored cars, and that certainly stands out!
If you like, get it, as your opinion is the only one that matters.
I would go with black wheels, as others have suggested. My guess is you can strip the orange off the existing wheels, powder coat them black, or better yet, put some black HRE's on it.

And a tint, too.

Good luck with your search!

Having a speed yellow Cab I am a bit biased, I love it, would buy it in an instant. There are so many silver, black and white ones - I find them a bit boring.

When I bought my car I was unsure how I would like such a yelling color, but so far I have only received a tone of positive feedback and everybody loves my lemon.

BTW, no issues with LEOs either - was thinking they might pick on me!

Its really your personal preference. No one can tell you what you'd like/not like. My take is if you like the 'look at me' color, then go for it. It really is a great looking car, but it would be too much for me.

Get some seat time in another carrera S to compare. 1st to 2nd is always the most difficult shift and it took me a bit to master. That said, I test drove three cars and one was noticeably grabby going to second. At least I thought so at the time. I'd pass on the car if this was the case.

I love the color and I love the one-of-a-kind ownership experience with a different color!

That said it's too much orange. Change the wheels but I would not go black, in fact I don't care for black wheels that much especially with a car with as bright a color as that. Stick with silver and you can't go wrong with HREs!!

Good Luck! Choose Bravely!
