My wife and I enjoy it immensely, it is not a weekend car. Good luck for your mom!
Thanks! Car in your sig looks fantastic!

05-06" they both have the IMS- but later production 2005 has the same IMS in the 06" its a bigger one, but also could fail- (ALL THIS IMS STUFF IS WAY BLOW OUT OF PROPORTION)

The thing about the late 2005-2008's bigger IMS is it CANT BE REPLACED with the LN engineering Bearing without splitting the engine case..

I went with an early 2005 because just incase, i'll do the LN bearing once i do the clutch- wont cost but $500-$600 more.
All 06s have the improved IMS and some later productoin 05s. While not common, there are failures in the 05s. Maybe its 5%. I havent read of one Carrera with the improved bearing (M97 engine) having a failure. Not sure an LN upgrade means a lifetime fix.

BTW Why would you wait for the clutch to wear out and then do the LN? Your not taking out the big $15,000 engine replacement risk.

So here's the current predicament. My mother has decided to up her budget to $45k. I've seen a couple standard 09 Carreras around there (47k). So the question is... For cars with similar miles, which is better? An 09 DFI standard Carrera or an 06 Carrera S?

I'd get the '09, which in fact I did. $47k for an '09 - really?

Huh? I completely disagree. I find the clutch to be perfectly matched and smooth.

I agree with PCC, the clutch action in the 997 (at least my 997.1 non-S) is smooth and it is an easy car to drive.

Ya I just missed out on two cars. Both cars were fully loaded, 06 C2S cars, both with around 30k miles and both were $44,900!

If you guys know of anything around there, price, mileage and option wise please let me know!
