Great pic sixtosune. Is the center radiator seperated from the side radiators by a vent or duct? It seems that there is no special ducting separting the 3 radiators. Maybe you have a pic of the "in between" of the center and side radiator.

Tks. Actually, last time I looked in there it seemed to me the 3 radiators are in separately vented compartments. Now that you ask, I'll take a look & see.

I also think then the lack of a protection grill is an inexcusable cost-cutting move from some beancounter at Porsche. The service staff at the Porsche dealer told me they've never had any issues with damaged radiators from road debris etc., nonetheless I'll feel much better when I get some decent grilles for all 3 rads.

I was told Porsche added the center radiator to the PDK-equipped 911's after several issues with the PDK boxes overheating. Not sure how well founded that story is, though. One thing I can say is that the car always runs cool as a cucumber, even after hard, high-speed rounds on hot days.

.
On my '12 PDK GTS, I had a damaged condensor that appeared to be caused by road debris (so not covered under warranty). Not sure if it could have been prevented by a mesh grill or not.

I keep forgetting to look into where to get a mesh grill. Anyone know where to find one? I need to take care of this before taking on the track again next year.

edit: Never mind. Found this: http://www.rennline.com/Front-Bumper...ctinfo/E97.98/

Before this turn into a grill post hope we can still see how the 3rd rad is installed in the cars of our brothers who have 2011 original 3rd rads. Are there special dividers for the 3 radiators or are the 2 side and 3rd radiator all together in one "compartment"? Special ductings, aero pieces?

The 997.1s have individual(3) ducks for each rad so i suspect the 997.2 will as well.

I'll take a good look when I'm with my 997 again on Monday and post back here.

usmc yes the 997.1 has sperate ductings but if you take a look at the picture of sixtosune, it looks totally different from the 997.1 version. of course one- its due to the toatlly different bumper. so it might be well to know hte difference.

So I just checked what's behind the front spoiler; the area directly behind the spoiler is uninterrupted all the way through the 3 rads. There is, however, an aero molding behind this, which creates "bumps" between each radiator space. Hope this helps.

Sixtosune, thanks. It somehow gives me an idea on the newer installation.

So why didn't the 2009 with PDK come with the third radiator?
Maybe Porsche has more faith in the newer synthetic oils that we do as consumers.
