Porsche 997 non bose stereo upgrade
My Porsche 997 Carrera S (2005) has left&right front door speakers (loud speaker) which are blown and need replacing. (Its the non Bose sound system.)
I thought it would be smarter to get good quality aftermarket speakers. (instead of the factory ASK speakers).
I'd like to keep the PCM but i'm considering adding a new amp.
I want to keep the install simple so speaker should fit into existing mounts.
Anyone done this before ? any recommendation specific speakers?

I have seen this done on other 997's and I did this in a Mini Cooper S 2 years ago. It's pretty easy for any good quality car audio shop to do this and you will have better sound than Bose.
You will need the door speaker, a good small digital amp and something like a Alpine PXE H660 system integration controller. This niffy little unit will balance out any pre-eq so many of todays oem stock head units employ and will let you set crossovers, hook up external amps, has its own eq in it. I used this in the Mini Cooper and it was perfect.
