Ipod cable - where to buy?

The PCM3 software sorts files and folders alphabetically. What I do is number folders in the order that I want each "playlist" to play. Like, 001 Radiohead, 002 Taylor Swift, etc. I would number the songs in each folder too, but I find that to be a little too much work for my tastes. Obviously if the song order within each "playlist" matters to you then you can number the songs as well.

The thumb drive works well and of course no need for power. I've also learned how to search the files so that the songs in each folder play in the correct order (instead of alphabetically). I'm very pleased. dave

The very old models that still supported FireWire connectivity like my iPod Photo Color ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_Photo ) would charge with just the straight cable.
However, the PCM doesn't put the iPod to sleep and it would run down the charge to empty if the car sat for a few days and the play lists kept starting from the same beginning, so I was constantly hearing the same songs over and over.
I decided to buy a refurb iPod Nano with the old iDoc connector on it this past November (rather than the new lighting connector on all the current iwidgets). Using that very tiny iPod and the split (Y) 9pin+USB to iDoc cable I've had much better success, and I stick with using the iPod Photo in the gym.

Not true is right, at least for an -09 C4S. I have the 9pin/USB combo now and it plays the ipod and charges a 4s. I used to have just the 9 pin cable which worked the ipod but didn't charge so the charge function comes through the USB port.

The 9-pin by itself would charge any iDevice that supports the FireWire 12v charging pin - which is the old stuff. The whole point of adding the USB leg to the new cable was to provide the 5v charging voltage that is the only supported charging method on iDevices made since the 2008 or 2009 time-frame when Apple just dropped the FireWire pin charging support for some reason.
But maybe your dealer (sales guy? service guy? who?) is talking about something else?
