I pulled the trigger
Well, I pulled the trigger (actually did it a couple months ago) and bought an '09 C2 Cab in Meteor Gray with gray interior. Pics to come (when I've detailed it).
My first question is where is the best (read: cheapest) place to get Porsche brand rubber floor mats? I occasionally go to work sites and don't want to track North Carolina red clay into the carpet.
Some things I've noticed as this is my daily driver:
* The interior materials may be of high quality but they do not stand up to daily use. I am already seeing a shine on my side bolsters and the top of the door panel (full leather interior) where I rub against them. The ignition surround and plastic piece at the top of the driver's side seat belt are also showing wear. I've driven the car 4k miles (including the 800 mile trip home when I bought it).
* I'm very glad I got a PDK since this is a daily driver. 6 speed is much more engaging but the auto is great in traffic.
* The exhaust is too farty. I am about to drop the mufflers for the Gundo Hack and am considering an X-pipe or cross-pipe retrofit in place of the central muffler/resonator.
* The ergonomics of the car have taken some getting used to. Working through menus in the PCM is not always what I would consider intuitive. Scrolling goes backwards to what I am used to as well.
* People drive like complete a-holes around me. I have had other high-end and classic vehicles but I've never seen people act so stupidly around me as in this car. They cut me off, drive for miles in my blind spot, tailgate, you name it. I've had to become a much more aggressive driver just to keep these types out of my way.
* I am glad I bought it.

congratulations my NC friend....
sounds like you'll be having some fun in that new Pcar of yours.....
I know EXACTLY how you feel about driving in Raliegh......used to live there for a couple of years...
but you'll be un-happy to know it that driving style extends way beyond raliegh too LOL......
can't say for certain about floor matts, maybe ebay or another member here perhaps......
I could imagine what you mean about the 6 speed in traffic.....I have been caught off guard in my guards red pcar myself...in regards to traffic and the clutch hehe....
I love the sound of my exhaust.....it's just right for me....not too loud in the cabin and does not seem to drone too bad either.....
also getting used to the layout of the insides....very different from my other cars: having to use a key, activate wipers and lights, LOL! the simple things that have reconnected me in a way to my Targa....
I really don't even give a hoot about anything but the engine's performance and the radio.......the NAV and the other tech stuff I could do without........
good luck with the car! Maybe I'll see you at C&C at Waverly Place.......
I will be there in November with my Orange E550 lol!

I'd check Suncoast and see if they have mats you like. They have a great array of Porsche products and their service is awesome. I get a lot of stuff from them.

Congrats.
In my car now about one month and have more or less the same impressions as you. The exhaust note is okay, and maybe a bit quieter than expected. Appreciate why people do mods on the exhaust. Just glad the car has none of the cayman noises.
Initially wanted PDK but never could land the right car. (color, PASM, and etc) However, I've found the manual to be really engaging and avoid the stop and go traffic.
The leather seats are really comfortable but I'm not sold on the durability of the leather. Put a nice scrape in the bolster the other day with a cracked pants button. Arghh!!!!
Need rubber mats as well, as would like to rotate between carpet and rubber as conditions warrant. The carpet mats are of fantantic quality.
Yes, the PCM interface takes a bit of getting used to but overall its okay. Just wish there were better audio buttons. Do miss the BMW idrive and Logic 7 sound system in my 5er. However, must say the overall layout and look of the instruments is nothing short of stunning.
I'm really with you on the last comment. Plenty of aggressive drivers and bad behaviors that I never expected with this car. For a week, I was completely paranoid but now I'm more at ease and accept the situation.
On a side note, my dad and I got the big thumbs up the other day from a large group of middle school boys. Pretty cool moment and reminds me how I felt about nice cars as a kid. Would have same reaction at that age seeing a 911, and just another of the many reasons to feel excited about driving this car.

Thanks for all the responses. I checked out all the links. Will have to do something soon. All this rain from Sandy is making the car a mess.
RotesAuto, I'll look for you at the cruise in. What day is it every month? I got to the cruise in at Brier Creek once before they moved it, now it's all the way on the other side of town, which is why I haven't gone to the one a Waverly Place (sucks because I used to live just 5 minutes from Waverly).
Daberlin, if you want to sell your mats for a few bucks and they're in good shape, I'm interested.
Cvtbenhogan, I'm glad my observations aren't unique. I hope you're enjoying your car as much as I am. Hopefully one day soon, I'll be able to have some room to try out the launch control. I've had the car two months and haven't used it yet.

We're also going to have to have some nice weather so I can detail the car before I post any pictures. Don't worry, they're on their way.

I am bringing my Targa in December, and should have some better looking wheels on by then too

see you then
As promised, some pics of my new (to me) 997.2. Sorry about the delay, just have been busy recently.
2009 Carrera 2 Cabriolet
Bought it with 19k miles. Previous owner ordered $20k in comfort and convenience options. PDK, Sports Chrono Plus, Full/Supple Leather, Full Power/Memory/Heated Seats, Nav, Bose, Audio Interface, Rear Park Assist, Wood Multi-Function Wheel with Heat.
The Makassar wheel really dresses up an otherwise dull gray interior and the color hides dirt well.
I just re-installed my mufflers after having the Gundo Hack done. The sound at startup is nice, less farty at cruise but not a dramatic change overall.

Sweet congrats.
I find I get just as many or more positive interactions with the general public than negative. Sorry to hear opposite experiences from others.
Have you considered weathertech mats?
