Default Nürburgring - anyone?

Dear all

I'm new in here, but not a newbie driver.

Since this forum mainly have US users, I would like to hear if any of you guys ever have driven the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring?

I have been driving there for years (born in Denmark and now living i Germany).

But if any of you ever consider to visit the "Green Hell" I can give you some tips with the practicalities.

Once a year we (a bunch of old friends) have a trip in the last weekend of May, if anyone is interested.

Nice to be a part of the Community - looking forward to many exiting discussions regarding the most rewarding car in the world.

I ran with the Scuderia Hanseat in May '93 with my first 911 that I took factory delivery on four days earlier. Great experience!

Very nice offer, and thanks for coming to Rennlist!

The 964 board has a very strong European contingent (mainly Brits), as well as the 993 and 997 GT3 boards... You might want to post there as well.

i live in germany and am lucky enough to be about an hour's autobahn ride from nordschliefe, last visit was in august, i am currently trying to find times when it is less busy...last time had 'stau-like' laps, kinda high-speed traffic jams, bbut it was a bit intimidating what with the vw busses and volvo combis among the ferraris AM's et al, still hard to beat...

Was there twice within 8 days this past August. First in a rented GT3, and then again in a Lotus Exige S, was an amazing experience!!!

I've done it 4 times while traveling to Germany for business. NEVER with my 997 though . I usually rent a race-spec smaller hatch (Suzuki Swift or Renault) and do 5-6 laps.

It's a HELL of a track, with incredible level of fun, and needs guts to do it right. To be honest, I think it's not that challenging per se, but more so difficult to learn due to the sheer size. Everytime I went there, it was very difficult to remember which corner was next and how flat out you could take it.

Highly recommended to anyone visiting Germany, should be on top of the list of to-dos for a petrol head!
