Default New car arrived... with dead battery

Hurray!

It was on a truck for six days. The battery on this CPO car is AAA. That surprised me. Should I ask for a new one? Porsche batteries aren't all that great, I hear.

It will get you later. I definitely would ask for a new battery.

Your car was probably parked for a long time and yes batteries drain out due to background circuits. Was the key in the ignition during the shipping? If affirmative, that draws even more current as more circuits are on.

Porsche batteries are not worse than anyone's and every modern car draws battery current while sitting.

If you need a new battery this is the recommended one:Interstate (MTP-91)

Purchased as a CPO from a Porsche dealer? If so, I'm surprised it didn't have a Porsche OEM battery installed.

Ask the Porsche dealer to send you a free battery, if they didn't, just buy an Audi battery, exact same OEM as Porsche, same size and fit.

The Porsche Moll battery weighs about 50lb. The Interstate MTP-91 weighs 37lb.

Just to be safe get a new battery. Once a battery is completely drained it will never be the same. There are advanced trickle chargers/maintainer with Desulphator features, such as
BatteryMINDer BatteryMINDer
, designed to bring a dead battery back to life or 90%+ of it's original state but the charger will cost you the same as a new battery.

Ditto on a new battery, for the peace of mind. From my experience, once a car battery is drained, it will not maintain charge like a new one.

I have used Interstate battery, they are perfect fit for the car and has the drain hole for the drain tube in the car, cost less than OEM as well.

As for Porsche OEM battery, I have had one in my previous 986S that last over six years, not too bad for an OEM.

Regards,

I would be concerned that the OEM battery has been replaced and why.
I have replaced previous Porsche batteries after over 5 years old because I felt it was time and not because they failed.

Yup I'd call them and ask for a new one. If it was shipped from a P dealer then they should of told the shipping company not to leave the key in the ignition.

I beleive that the car is their responsibility until it leaves their lot.

I picked up a new OEM 80 Amp Porsche battery for $150 at Sunset Porsche, far cheaper than the other places I checked, especially in comparison to the dealers in Canada, who wanted $400.
