Default New 997.2 Owner C4S Cab Long Island, NY

Hi,

Just traded in my 2006 Boxster for the last of the pre-991 models. I have been trying to build up some breakin mileage and I was wondering if you guys meet outside the Metro Porsche Club. Do you guys go down to OBI, to Grill 454 in Commack on the weekends? Let me know? Thanks.

Thx. Sonny. I have the 6-spd too. Have you experienced the kick-out from engaging into 1st gear? I have about 600 miles on the car and I get it once in a while. I saw a previous thread on this but i haven't seen too many updates on it. I figured with the last of the 997.2 production, they would have figured out the kinks.

Congrats on your new purchase That is truly an amazing looking car. How do you like it compared to your Boxster ? I would also consider getting some Euro Clear Side Markers.

"The kick out" ... do you mean it jumps out of gear? I have an '09 997.2. I have never had that problem. Not even once. THat should never happen. Would I be correct that it only happens when the car is cold? If so, it is not fully in gear when you are launching

If you feel that its properly engaged and in gear, it should never kick-out.

I'd be concerened and certainly notify the dealer.

When I put the car into first from a dead stop, I got resistance. Took back to dealer and no problem of course. Previous threads from 2009 said this was a Porsche quirk.

The Boxster was like a go-kart and it felt light in the way it handled. You feel it on the highway. The 911 is like chiseled stone. Heavy and planted. Plus 145 horses is a little nicer.

Chuck.

Best of luck with your new car. You seem to have two accounts. One as a member and one not a member. The admins can fix that.

If you have access to the OT section (members only), there are some nice rides planned for the Metro NY area folks. We have one on November 3rd. Should be a great ride.

I am a member. I set up the ChuckDBernsten account on my IPhone. I will have that account deleted. Under which caption is that OT account?

Chuck,

In the Members Only Forums, it is the 1st forum, Off Topic (OT). There is a sticky on the top of that forum regarding our planned November 3rd drive.
