It was the only flaw in my interior and it bothered me to no end. The sad part is that it will happen again so now I try not to even use the AC/Heat...
This should go in the Annoyance thread...

Welcome, Great Looking Car!
Rotes, Thanks for your comments on my new 997; my compliments on your choice - the Red Targa 4S is really nice! I had a choice between Red or the Meteor Grey but in the end, the grey was just more "me". Yes, the car is so much fun I'm getting up early the days I take it to work! And the shifting is getting smoother each time, so the jitters are melting away.
Proud to see another NC native; you're in a great location. I grew up in the Mtns. of Western NC and came to Atlanta around 1980. Next time I'm up there in a few weeks I hope to get some nice pics to add. Good luck and enjoy your car!

Beautiful Targa 4S in guards red. Reminds me of my 85 guards red Targa. With a car that cool, you will be riding with those two gals in your Avatar, just keep the Targa top open so they can sit on each others lap.

thanx for the comment!
No it won't. If you replace it with what Porsche carries now for the climate control unit, the plastic buttons are of a completely different material and they will not wear off. The problem was corrected somewhere in the mid 07 year for 997.1

Redcar,
I hope to see your stunning car around Chapel Hill every once in a while?!
Good luck getting to know your 911...the learning never ends, these are amazing cars.
C&C is fun, but don't forget there are some very nice driving roads north of town!
