The new GoPro 3 has officially been released and there have been many changes to the cameras. Most easily identifiable is the size difference. the new GoPro has much smaller dimensions than the old unit. All accessories that are related to the size of the unit have changed. All mounting accessories remain the same.

We are now selling 3 different GoPros, a white edition, a black edition and a silver edition.

WHITE EDITION-PRICE IS $199.00
This is the most basic of the cameras and is the cheapest of all three. It uses a 5MP camera with a 3 fps burst and it films in HD at 30 FPS. It also has built in WiFi.

The black edition is the bad *** of all action sports camera. It can shoot videos at 4 steps greater than 1080p. It can shoot at 4k/15 which is an unbelievable number in any camera that is less than $5000.00. It comes with built in WiFi and a WiFi remote. I use the GoPro2 and it is amazing. I shoot underwater video's attaching the camera to my R-9 Driver shaft so i can get closer to the sea critters.

 

On YouTube you need to change the picute quality to 480 or 720 HD!

 

Thanks for posting about the update. These are great little cameras! I'm saving up for the Black.

 

I guess I better pick up a spare v2 when the price drops on those discontinued models.
From my Australia trip, I can say this: the flat glass lense is a plus, as its needed for underwater filming with proper focus.
The wifi system doesn't work underwater, so you really need to just turn on the camera when you get ready to enter the water and then just let it run. Not surprising as the higher frequency signal would be foiled by water being too dense to transmit through. I had wanted to try using the wifi remote to turn my chest mounted camera on while snorkling but that just didn't work -- the connection to camera from wrist could not be maintained underwater.

 

I am considering the Black.
It looks really nice. Hope someone puts it on sale before Christmas.

 

Those are list prices. I would think some sort of discount or special should be offered to us.
