It helps to park a little diagonally in the spot. They dont seem to park as close and it puts more distance between their door and yours.

No auto headlamps on 997's - there's a "home" feature that shuts them off after a predetermined time but they don't turn on automatically at night - there's no light sensor to determine if its night. Maybe your DRL's are set for all lights on at start. One way to check that is to see if your dashlights illuminate at night without using the headlight switch - they won't.
