I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam (feeling short legged due to this thread) and have manual sport seats. I shared your concern but bought a 997.1 without power seats anyway. The seats far exceed my comfort expectations. Set them initially and they fit like a glove.

I adjust my power seats on the fly very often. Personally I wouldn't buy a car without power seats.

Just went through the same thing. I bought a C4S long distance, without being able to sit in it. I checked out all the seats my local dealer had. About 20 minutes each. Just sitting in the car. I don't care about the power or the memory, even the weight. But the lack of lumbar adjustment, i.e. support, on the manual seats became painfully obvious, very quickly. I canceled the car I had my eyes on. My back would not tolerate Porsche's manual seats. All the other ones were spectacularly comfortable. Mine has ***. Pun not intended.

Love the manual slide part. Simple.

Personally I would not be without the power/memory seats. Means the wife and I each have our keys programmed to our memory position so it sets automatically. Also like the ability to adjust easily on a trip, turns out there are different settings I like depending on conditions.

I have the manual leather/alcantera sport seats in my '12 911 GTS. I have no problem on short trips, but on long trips I would like to adjust the lateral support which I can't. Is it possible to swap to fully adjustable sport seats, and if so, any idea of the cost of a pair of new seats and where I can get them?

When you read all the responses it seems clear that it's all about personal comfort and everyone has their own standard. As a consequence, if I were the OP I'd be even more unsure which way to go. If that's the case, maybe a little introspection. Have you (OP) ever had discomfort issues in any seats you've had in any of your cars. If no, a manual seat will probably be fine. There is, as well, the memory function on electric seats - how important is that to you? (Plus, the right side mirror is able tilt down when in reverse if you have electric seats.) Speaking only for myself, it's very easy to get hung up and obsess on the little things that, down the road, you won't even think about.

Tom, haven't you ever heard, "People who own cars may or may not be obsessive, but people who own Porsches are each obsessive in their own special way.". (Apologies to Tolstoy.)

With my back issues I had to opt for whatever would give me the most on-the-fly manipulation possible. The Adaptive Sport Seats give you that, albeit for a weight penalty. Weight, is the least of my problems!

I find myself tweaking the seat on long drives. I like the power.

Could you guys help me in understanding if the manual seats can be adjusted sufficiently to make it comfortable. I will be the driver 99% of the time so as long as I can get them set I will be fine

Any thoughts BTW I am 6'2" with 36" inseams so want to be careful

Thanks for your help in advance

One other consideration, you WILL someday sell the car, power seats would probably make an easier sale.

This. My 997 came with power seats, and they're nice and all, but my prior car (custom-ordered BMW) expressly came with manual seats.
