So I configured out a 981 (base) and with the 20 inch wheels, PDK, NAV, etc, the price came close to 67k. I was ready to place an order, and then saw a 2009 997 Cab with 28k miles for 65k (certified). I am now second guessing I which car to get? I know this is a 997 forum, but what are your thoughts??? I will post on the 981 forum also just to see the two points of view. I must say that I drove both cars, and that did not help me make my mind. I owned a 2001 996 Cab that I barely drove (garage queen). The biggest complaint I had was all the squeaks and rattles. I now have a 987 with almost 80k miles which I love driving, but still feel like I don't have the "daddy" of Porsche's.
Look forward to your suggestions.

Asking here will get you resounding support for the 997. If you want to be thoroughly confused I would post a similar question on Planet 9.
FYI many Boxster owners could have easily purchased a 911 but selected not to. It really depends on what your after. And yes I agree that the 911 is a status symbol and will likely always remain that way. That's not why I bought my car and I know it's not why many here bought theirs.

Having driven the 981 and owning a 997 S (coupe though) I would say get the 997. The 981 is a great car, but it lacks that something else that the 911 has. The idea that you own and are driving your 911 never fails to put a smile on your face.

Guess it all boils down to personal preference... but 997.2 cab has more room, further down in the depreciation curve, faster, and seems easier to maintain gets my vote.
