I now run 93 BP (because I like what they did to the Gulf) and my car runs amazing. I don't know if they use any ethanol but I think they do.

I suspect your issue is going from 120 Proof ***** Creek to 100 proof. Your car can't handle it especially when smoking a cigar.
I primarily use BP 93 octane too and our cars run great. I started going there many years ago when my BMW at the time started having detonation problems. The dealer blamed the gas I used (typical). The dealer used the BP station across the street to fill all of their cars, so I started going there because I didn't want to hear what I thought was a lame excuse for gas causing my problems. After about 3 fill-ups my problem went away, and I've been going there ever since with our other cars.

For sure, the damn ethanol hurts our engine, I highly recommend folks to stay away from 10% ethanol wherever possible!

In the US, avoiding 10% ethanol is about impossible.

I'm envious... the green party has taken over in Austin. I can't find any 100% gas unless I drive 180 miles to Dallas to fuel up.

It is the corn lobby. Corn prices in my area have gone from 10 cents to $1.00 per and they have forced themselves into our fuel too.
