Default RIPOFF!!! Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc. (FWS)

This company must be in some sort of financial crisis, because it is ripping people off for valid claims. In a nutshell. DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY. YOU will pay more in dealership diagnostic and service fees. Find a good mechanic and you will save, time, money and frustration. If you've been ripped-off, please spread the word.

Fidelity is owned by JM Enterprises (founded by Jim Moran) has a strong financial position. They are the behind the scenes extended warranty administrator for a number of products with factory labels on them (e.g., Audi).

There are many things to consider when you decide to buy an extended warranty.

(1) Does the service department you use have a good experience with them?

(2) Is the coverage extensive enough to meet your standards? Consider an exclusionary policy for the most coverage (eg. Fidelity Platinum).

(3) Are you comfortable with the required protocols in filing a claim before the repair is done?

If the answer is no to any of the above, don't bother buying one.

An extended warranty is as good as the contractual provisions AND following protocols BEFORE you begin the work. Many have great experiences when the service advisor follows protocols. This is a rules based contract. Need to follow them.

A brochure is in the mail and I'll read every word in it along with some google work. Anyone heard of the Lexus/Toyota extended warranty program for Porsche? 3 years and 36,000 miles with zero deductible is $2,500. 4 years and 48,000 miles is $3,200. That's for an -09 C4S with 18,300 miles.
Did you ever buy a warranty. Can you share the details? Can I buy from any dealer in the country or do I have to purchase in my state or city? Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

When I researched warranty companies and decided on Fidelity, I contacted Fidelity Warranty Services ( http://www.fidelitywarrantyservices.com/ ) and asked them for 5 dealers in my zip code area that sell their warranty products. I wanted the Platinum policy with $100 deductible for 7 years / 70K miles at contract date. Because my mileage was under 10K, the pricing ranged from $4,700 (Porsche dealerships) to $2300 (Honda dealership). Same policy for my 2008 Carrera S. If my mileage was over 10K, the premium jumped another $2K.

Price shop the policies. They may be more now but the spread is likely similar among dealerships.

Mark,

Thanks for the response. I will contact fidelity and ask them for dealers. I have 13k miles - hopefully I can find something relatively affordable...

I bought the 7 year/70,000 mile Fidelity Platinum extended warranty through the Porsche dealer when I was buying the car new. I negotiated the price to an even $3,000.

I had also heard that you could buy the coverage with this company through any other car dealership regardless, including from a Toyota dealer, and get more competitive prices than through most Porsche dealers.

I have a 2011 M3 sedan that my son drives and I'm going to do some shopping for his car next year. I bought the same coverage for my daughter's Audi S4 when I bought it new. I think I remember paying about $2,600 for it back then after negotiating it down from somewhere near $4,000.

Earlier this year I bought a 6 year/60,000 mile Fidelity Platinum warranty online from Troy Dietrich at FD-Warranty.com. Troy was highly recommended on some Audi forums. I also shopped around at dealers in my area and Troy offered the best pricing by far and was easy to work with. I haven't had to use the warranty (yet), but all the documentation looks legit.

I also ended up getting the Fidelity Platinum ( 7yrs/70K miles) for my car at a Porsche dealer. My car had just under 10K miles and it was close to the end of the factory warranty period. I paid about $3,000. I did not due quite as well as mjsporsche on the price, but thanks for the guidance, Mark. Your call was helpful and I feel comfortable with my decision.

With the Fidelity Platinum ( 7yrs/70K miles) is the 7 years from the purchase of the policy or the age of the car?

It adds on to where you are. So, if your car has 9K miles such a warranty would take you to 7 years from that point and to 79K miles. You can get a 7 year/100K mile warranty but that is a couple thousand more if I recall correctly.

I don't believe this to be the case. It's 7 years/70,000 miles total from the first day the car was purchased and registered new.

Default Fidelity Platinum 4 yr 48 m

My nephew who lives in Kentucky quoted me $3400 on my 2009 Carrera S with 20,000 miles with a $100 deductable. My dealer wants $3661 with a $250 deductable. Living in California I thought it odd that the Kentucky dealer can sell me the warranty.

the fidelity platinum warranty sold currently is from contract date and add on miles. As said if you buy 7yr/70k it is good for 7 yrs from date of contract and 70k addt'l miles from what car has now. The orig Fidelity
i bought 5 or 6 yrs ago was total miles- current ones are add on miles/yr.
Folks should contact Sunset Porsche in oregon for their prices and ask
for rennlist best price- in past not only was it much cheaper than buying
locally but there was no sales tax. call Sunset ask for Polly

This is cheap insurance and peace of mind. I bought the Fidelity Platinum for our '10 4S from a local Chevy dealer and saved over $3K from the Porsche dealer quote for the 7 year 100K wrnty. Quite fine with that.
