Default 997.1 Factory aero kit fitment question X51 vs. no X51

I have the opportunity to by an OEM aero kit for my 08 C4S. The kit is for an X51 car. My car is not X51. My preliminary assumption is that the difference is some extra room under the engine lid for the X51 additions. Can anyone confirm this and that fitment on a non-X51 car is possible?

The difference is that, if the Aerokit is for an X51 car, it will have two inlets for the air cleaner assembly instead of one, as in the normal kit. There is no extra clearance. I think you can install it in your car and just have a redundant inlet that won't normally be used. On the plus side, if you ever buy the .1 X51 air cleaner assembly, as some have done, then you don't have to cut out another inlet because it is already there.

you might find that the x51 spoiler is different from the regular spoiler. My car is a factory X51. When we did the PPI, the dealer called me to say that I had the GT3 spoiler instead of the standard Aerokit spoiler. the front has the sacrificial black plastic lip, not the one that needs to be painted. I don't know that this matters to me or you either, but the wing itself might be different from the basic aerokit. It is all good on my car. you could search this site for an aerokit comparison, or try to find one to compare in your neighborhood. There are not many in my neighborhood, so a search may be the way to go.

See if you can add the carbon fiber airbox from the X51. The cool factor is off the chart. So is the wallet factor.

The factory Aerokit rear wing decklid for X51 has the second hole done at the factory whereas the one on the non-X51 cars would need to have the hole made if it were to retrofitted with the Powerkit after the fact.

The non x-51 decklid is plastic so it is not difficult to modify for that second inlet.

^Yes, it's not difficult to do and Porsche supplies a template to cut out that second inlet for owners who retrofit the Powerkit on the 997.1.
