Default considering buying a heavily modified 997

After a few years of being Porscheless (owned an air-cooled 911 for about 10 years), the itch to get a new one is getting too strong to avoid. I found a car I am really interested in and hope to get some advice from the board.

The car is a 2005 Carrera with very low mileage and heavily modified:

Chrono Sports pkg w/PASM
Navigation PCM
Alcantera Head Liner
Yellow Seat Belts
Full Techart Aero Kit With Type II Rear Wing
TechArt Head Lamp Bezels
Dry Carbon Side Mirrors
TechArt Interior Trim Work with Yellow Top stitch
TechArt Pedal Assembly with Foot Rest
TechArt Thick Grip Steering Wheel with Carbon
TechArt Door Entrance Light Panel (iluminates TechArt)
Cargraphic Exhaust System with TechArt Outlet Tips
GT3 Carbon Buckets in Leather Front Seats (OEM)
Bilstein PSS10 Coilovers system with Cargraphic AIRLIFTMATIC Front suspension kit.
Front Brembo GT 15" 380x32 6 Piston Brake kit Yellow Porsche Paint Calipers
Rear Brembo GT 14" 355x32 4 piston Brake kit Yellow Porsche Paint Calipers
FVD DME Flash with Highflow Sports Air Cleaner box kit.
Cargraphic Carbon Hood Bonnet
Cargraphic Carbon Kevlar Replacement Doors Left and Right side.
Only has 25k kms No claims or Accidents

They are asking $65k which I know is high for a non-S. I also know that the cost of mods are pretty much impossible to recover on resale, but this car has had some serious money dropped into it. A lot of the mods are things I would do anyway (well maybe I wouldn’t go crazy with all the carbon stuff like they have), so I am willing to pay a slight premium based on that.

Of course I would do all the PPI, DME report etc. but after researching on this board, I’m a little concerned about IMS and a low mileage 2005. Should I be?

As a backgrounder, this would be my “daily driver” but my daily driving is 2 – 3 times a week, mostly short trips for pleasure and probably a few auto-x’s and DE’s a year. My cars always remain very low mileage.

Any advice is welcomed!

what's the car's location? US, which state? outside US? u mentioned KM, so Canada? I don't know anything about mods, but in the US, a 2005 C2 couple, at that mileage and not much factory options, my guess would be high $30 to low $40k and then you add the value of the mods with your own haircut, whatever they are worth to you....my 2 cents.

the car is in Canada and it's a Canadian car (non-import). 25 k km is about 15.5k miles. We pay a a bit more than in the U.S. for our cars but I am not opposed to importing a car from the U.S.

I'd be worried about the IMS/RMS more than anything else...

the 2005 non-S does not have the larger IMS bearing, therefore this is a concern.
If you do buy it, consider replacing it with a IMS bearing from LN Engineering.

2007-2008 C4S or 2009 C2 for that money would be so much more value and sense in my opinion. All these Tech art cosmetics wouldn't even cost 10c on a dollar on the street. See what important to you.
Best luck.

A bit high at $65K, unless you must have all the add-ons that current owner liked and put on the car. Just like your home upgrades, you only pay a percentage of the upgrade values.

If you like the car with all mods, by all means go for it, but as said above you can get a turbo for that price.

Not my cup of tea... especially at that price. But if garish sports cars are your thing, go for it.

Like others have said, this is just my .02, but I'd put that $$$ in a newer car.
