Default Broken button on bonnet release lever - $120 plus labor?

The little black button next to the sill on the driver's side that you pull up to release the front hood/ bonnet (there is also a black button there to release the engine cover) broke off. I called my local dealer who says that the entire assembly needs to be replaced and will cost $120 plus labor. Is that really true? There is no way to just buy a button and snap it back on? I have looked at the prior threads on th DIY replacement of the assembly, but in my case the assembly works fine, just the little black button (cover) broke off.

Try a salvage yard or breaker like LA Dismantlers or similar. The switches are all a single unit, but it not a difficult install. Just remove the scuff panel (2 allen screws) and pop it out.

i've seen this done. Looked pretty straightforward . Anyway many parts are designed in this fashion. Shameful.

I think I paid something like 60 bucks for the assembly at sunset Porsche. Snaps in place.
