Same issue in my 996. Anyone figure out the cause for sure? Is the consensus that this is related to the clutch linkage, as in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ng-clutch.html? The noise is only a brief whine as I release the clutch pedal to start moving in first gear. It hasn't happened to me in neutral when releasing the clutch (but I'll test that more), which I would think might happen if it is the clutch linkage, no? Seems to me something with the engagement? There is no noise with the clutch pedal completely pressed down and no noise with the clutch pedal completely up. My clutch doesn't slip at all and there is no grinding.

Thanks,
Rob

I have the same problem. Engaging 1st and 2nd gears when pulling out of the parking, the sound is similar to a sound of a cricket. Only when it is cold.
For now, 42k kms on the clock, 997.1, (2005). Never changed the clutch.
Thanks.
