Kills Bugs Fast
I always liked that tag line and I'm glad I didn't have to change it to 'kills turkeys fast'. Missed him by a foot on I80...
The search is over thanks to Andy from Intersport. Great to deal with, great price on a great car. '09 C2 6-speed Ruby / Black full leather. Heated/ventilated power seats. 33k miles. All the options I really wanted plus one I need to remedy. Not my top choice of colors, but in the top 3, so I'm happy.
Left NY yesterday morning at 7am, blew down I95 in my Z4, which I decided to trade, so that made life easier. Made it by 11 am and took her for a ride. Everything was as promised, so we did the paper work and I was back on the road by 12:30. Instead of running back up the coast I took the scenic route up through PA on Rt15 and then over I80. 250 miles down, 500 miles back up - slight detour. Nice ride, except for the aforementioned turkey, a couple of sudden down pours that caused me to appreciate the fact that I can get the top up without coming to a stop and me cursing the memory seats every time I stopped (RTFM today).
First impressions -
Feels big compared to the Z4
Exhaust is too quiet - sharkwerks x-pipes
The steering wheel sucks even more than I thought.
Great power. Love the midrange roll on. Been missing that
Feel the speed less than I hoped. One reason I like ragtops - keeps the actual speed somewhat reasonable. Maybe louder exhaust will help.
Fun fun fun
Now I gotta go clean off the bugs.

Nice looking car! Looks like you have the full leather option. A very nice option to have. I can see why you dont like that steering wheel. I would change it to the Leather thick sport steering.
Time to make a few mods and make the car perfect.
I would start with:
1. sharkwerks x-pipes
2. Smart Top module
3. Bluetooth/I-pod (if you dont have it)
4. Clear Bra
5. Change the front amber marker lights to white

Hey Stefan! Great car. One thing I learned to LOVE was keeping the revs HIGH in these cars. I don't know how you drove your Z4 BUT... these engines are designed to perform the BEST in the 4500 - 7000 range. Many, many people keep them below this (lug them) out of old habits, for better gas miiage, think it's too hight, too loud etc... but after the engine warms up, keep your revs high. Then judge the engine. The downside? You burn through a few more gallons of fuel, and never get out of 2nd or 3rd gear in the city. But man can city driving be fun in a quiet, empty early am city.
P.s. You'll still need the Sharwerks bypass, +/- a Gundo hack.
P.ss. For better colors shoot early am or late pm after the sun goes down and the light is not so 'hot'. They'll be stunning. Simple iPhones take great shots like my avitar taken just after sunset.

I love the Ruby. You'll be happy with it and you'll get tons of complements because it's a very unique color. The camera doesn't catch the true beauty of this color. It really blings in the Sun. Check mine out below:

I agree. These motors love to run and work even better when you drive them hard.

Best color
Very nice car. In my opinion, youve got the best 997 red in that 21st century version of "ruby red" and it seems close to arena red, another fave. Oddly the name for this 997 color was reused for a different red tone as the original 20th century ruby red was a deep cherry red, as seen here.
Cheers,
Zed

Thanks. Love all those reds. Arena has always been a favorite.
I will take some pics during magic light, but I figured I'd throw up a few quick, lest I catch heat for not having pictures of the new car
x-pipe is on order, steering wheel is next. I-pod connector is also on the short list - I guess everyone here has Denison, then I'll slow down a little.
I definitely like to hear/feel it at higher revs, but can't do that all the time. And even 3rd at 5-6k is not exactly slow.
