Default Sports Chrono Question

Guys,

For those with the wart, once you've started the car, does the digital number display on the wart clock light up? Mine does, and I seem to recall it never used to light/activate up unless I used the stopwatch.

Nope, only if activated.

Mine is on all the time. It is an option that the dealer can turn on or off.

Good to know that it's an option the dealer can turn on or off. Mine turned on after a battery died and I replaced it with a new one. I noticed it was on and never remembered it always being on before the new battery..................my PCM also now gives a screen full of "system error" messages every time I turn it on............I hit enter, the messages go away and everything works just fine. I wonder if the stealer can reset to get rid of the messages?

Could this option be turned on with Durametric Pro? I looked everywhere to have this option turned on and can't find it.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if there's a hack of sorts to display the digital time in the Chrono clock?

In newer cars Porsche has finally enabled this but I always wondered about the 997 and 987's. I think it would make it a lot more useful.

Does anyone here car to share what they actually time with Sport Chrono aside from lap times? Everyone always asks me about it and I never really have a good answer for them.

I actually wonder the same thing. The Panameras can use the chrono as a clock, but It didn't have the capability for my 997.1.

Is there another legitimate purpose we don't know about?

On the 997's, it's just a chronometer (no clock) with both digital and analog displays.

This thread got me wondering if the chrono can be replaced with a clock or a compass. I've only had my car a few weeks and I can't believe there is no compass (that I can find)?

Mine is off all the time, unless I activate it.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but I wanted to see if anyone ever found out if you could find a hack of sorts to display the digital time in the Chrono clock?

Can't do it - the 991 integrates a clock in the chrono but not the 997.

The question might be ... Can the wart be removed without consequence? And then the next question would be ... Does anyone know of a compass (or something else) that can mount in that space and not look like it doesn't belong?

I too miss the compass.
