tire pressure question
Hi guys,
Sorry I must have repeated this topic but I can't find a confirmed answer after doing some research. My current tire pressure is set at 31/39(f/r) and the sticker on the driver side indicates 37/44(cold tire temperature). My current tire pressure has been this since the delivery. The dealer didn't say a thing. Also, when I took it to a tire shop a while ago, they didn't make any adjustment. I am running on those Pirelli p zero tires. This question has been bugging me in some ways. Anybody has thoughts about this issue?

Check you owners manual. In my 2012 GTS manual it indicates 34F 37R for use when not carrying four plus luggage. For full load it has something around 36F 42R. Those are way too high for my daily driving. So I run 34/37.

Owners manual has a full page on this...READ IT....the door sticker is for full load of passengers and luggage. 37/44 cold is WAY too high for 1 or 2 people and sporty driving.
You didn't mention what Porsche you have so none of us can tell you the correct pressure....Carreras tire pressure is different than Carrera 4S for example.

Thanks guys and sorry I forgot to mention more detail about my car. It's a 997.2 C2, 6 speed.
So I just went to check it again, this time it sets at 33/39 in the garage, car hasn't been driven for more than 24 hrs. Interestingly, the front goes up by 2 every time when it gets a bit warm here.

You said you have a C2. Do you have 18 or 19 inch wheels? I think the recommended tire pressures are different for 18 vs 19. But as others have suggested, read your owners manual for the details or correct pressures.

Almost all 997.2 versions call for about a 3 psi differential front/rear. 33/39 doubles the standard and I'd fear it would significantly affect handling. On the track I run my GTS at 37/39 hot (reducing the differential slightly to control understeer); on the street 34/37 cold. With regard to 33/39 -- I'd either add a couple of pounds to the front or release a couple of pounds from the rear.

Thanks again guys. I have 19's. Problem with my owners manual, I left it at my other home(I travel between two places often) last time when I felt like reading it at night. That I will make sure it goes back to the car next time.

PY0413...cold tire pressure for normal load on a 997 C2 is 34 front and 39 rear cold. No more than that and your car will drive and ride fine and tire wear will be fine. If you need more grip for an auto x or de or sport driving in the mountains wear the tires will heat up more you can drop the cold psi 2 lbs. Higher pressures will grip less and are only for 4 passengers and full luggage. OK? Hope this helps.
