Jeez, you could buy a small used car for $12,000!

Actually, you could pick a used 1970s era 911 for that price...

5150-I just did my plugs and coils, took me 1.5 hours to do the job. Very easy and rewarding. Like others have said the right most rear plug is the most difficult. But its still a snap to get out. I used this order of tools and it all came right out. 3/16 allen for the one coil bolt that was unaccessable by my torx. For the spark plug itself.......spark plug socket, 3" extension, u joint, 3" extension, ratcht. Thats all i needed and it came out in 15 seconds. Hope this helps, PM me if you need any more help.

well, total price of my suspension project was actually more and i do not regret it. it is all relative.

engine work is very expensive on those cars. crazy expensive. it is what i hate the most.

This May should be the four year major service and a brake flush. if you follow the service book it would cost $1502.00 + brake flush $171.00

This was my estimated cost for a four year service with 8k from my local Porsche dealer plus 13% tax. I asked what service work is included in the $ 1502 ? He's Yet to get back to me.......

Porsche blinker fluid runs $600 a quart so you do have to keep that in mind.

On a serious note, a good practice that many of us follow is to know what is the real market pricing for these services.

If we are fortunate to have more than one dealer within a reasonable distance, a phone call and getting a "competitive" quote makes us an "educated consumer".

Some like to bring their car to the dealer only. Others like the Porsche Indy. For me, the Porsche Indy is a great way to get great service at a very fair price.

The best value for some is to be a DIYer. (or have some Porsche friends who enjoy a Saturday session on their lift).

I wont use our local $tealership anymore because I don't trust them.

Shortly after purchase I took it in for a 20K service just to have it thoroughly gone over and make sure everything was up to snuff, maybe $1000 including an oil change. Gave me a colorful laminated sheet listing all the wonderful service to be performed including checking the horns. I new one of the horns was out from the ppi but didn't mention it. They didn't catch it.

I also asked them about rough idle. "Dunno . . . no codes . . . maybe we should change the plugs"
At 20K miles - nope.

Got a survey from PCNA soon after and mentioned the missed horn. Immediately got an invite from the $tealership to replace the horn.

Changed the oil myself the next time and the drain plug was way overtorqued. It was marked with a sharpie leading me to think he just tightened it back to the mark.

I think they were recently sold off.

My indi on the other hand is wonderful.

Question

It's definately interesting to read threads like this, especially as a service consultant. I see some of you have legitimate complaints with part pricing. Let me start with this:

Has anyone used us before?
If so, any complaints?

I believe in transparancy and abolishing the old "$tealership" stigma.
