Default 997 Major Maintenance Cost

What kind of prices are you guys seeing for a 4 year Major service for a 997.1 at your Porsche dealerships? I did mine recently in the DC area and it seemed a little high - even for the region.

Which was how much?

Spark plugs, brake fluid, and oil and filter... Or did they do the air filters too?

Just had a 40k service with plugs done at a dealer for about $1150.

My 2006 C4 just had major maintenance done at ~21,000 miles, and it was right at $1200 IIRC.

I think the "major" things included were: New spark plugs, brake fluid flush, and new drive belt. There might have been some other minor things, too.

I've got to have the front pads and rotors replaced in a few months, and that's going to run about $1300. I figure as long as the rotors have to replaced anyway, I'm getting as much use out of those pads as I can. I'll replace them when rivets start hitting rotors.

See and all the prices quoted are what I expect. Down in Florida I paid $600 for a 20k service and that included a PCCB brake flush.

This time I paid $1800 for a 30k service including plugs (treated as an 8 year major service). PCCB's weren't touched.

Also also they nailed me for an additional 400 dollars to "re-align the backseat", they called me on the phone to tell me it was mis-aligned and could break in the future if not fixed, being one who never skimps on my car I said go ahead, looking back I think that was ridicolous. Usually i'm a real bastard, not sure how I let this number get so high but it did.

So it came out to over 2200k

Here's the breakdown part by part--

Am I reading that right? $26.50 for Silicone Spray? 3 or 4 squirts per door hinge? If they used a whole case, your car should never squeak again. What hazordous waste did they dispose of for $60?

Can someone tell me why the cabin filter (which is 1/3 the size of the air filter) is twice the price?? I purchased 3 cabin filters (which were made in Germany) from an online source for about $14 each. The look exactly like the factory filter.

There's certainly no way to justify the costs on any of these parts, but the cabin filter is usually are carbon filter to help not only keep the dirt out but also pull the smell out too.
Of course if you drive with the windows open or the smell was created inside the car it doesn't really help....

I am not happy about this. I gave the go on all this including that ridicolous 400 dollar "seat re-alignment" because I never chimp on this car and I figured a Porsche dealership would not pull this kind of krap.

Are you guys getting special pricing or did my Porsche dealership inflate these prices?

Also I forgot to post the last part of the receipt...

Obviously as a dealer they will charge full retail on all parts rather than the discounted pricing available elsewhere. However bassed on the prices they show against the part numbers it looks rather like they have marked them up even compared to Porsche MSRP. Run the part numbers on a Porsche dealer parts site (like Sonnen) to check.

Guess it explains why they needed all that lubricant and silicon spray......

Yup.

I'm thinking about calling their general manager and making a complaint and requesting they fix this.
