Clear Bra question
Hi everyone, I installed a clear bra on my car and it looks good so far but two small rocks did manage to penetrate the clear bra - leaving two very small chips. I never had this on my silver 997.2 but on the black 991, it happened.
For those that have had a clear bra installed on their cars for awhile now, have you noticed any small chips or tears happening from rocks hitting the bumper? I can't imagine its perfect protection or is my clear bra just bad quality?

I haven't had any rocks penetrate the bra but I have had a couple which have torn the bra and left a permanent mark on the bra. What brand of bra do you have installed on the car?

Good question. I am checking with the installer now. It looks like from the two very small chips that the clear bra stopped most of the impact b/c the mark that is left on the bumper isnt showing the natural plastic color but you can still see the imperfection in the bumper. I was just surprised the see that the small rocks even penetrate through at all...

Yes; I have had rocks penetrate the clear bra and nick the paint. It's not a bullet-proof protection but it does a pretty darn good job of protecting. Still some things will still penetrate. Imagine what it would have been w/o the clear bra.

3M is a respected Clear Bra Brand so I doubt your issues are related to poor quality.
To reduce the likelihood of getting a large rock hitting my p-car I make every effort to maintain at least 3 car lengths behind other cars when driving at speeds over 50 mph. This has helped keep the front end of my Spyder chip free so far.

+1 - tore the film(small nick is more accurate), but left the paint intact. The film shows more scuffs from any debris than anything. Usually buffs out if you are careful not to rub it too hard with an abrasive material.

High-Dollar 3M or cheapo no-name, it's just thin plastic. Shoot enough sharp rocks at it at 70 miles per hour and some of them will go through.
It's sacrificial. If it were impenetrable, they'd make the whole car out of it.
