Default Confused: Do I need to bleed the Clutch when doing a brake bleed - or is it optional?

2007 c2s. Pedal might be softer then it should be as compared to my previous 996c2 (might also be in my head). I want to try to bleed some fluid out of the calipers - I did this on my 996 and it was simple but it was also a tip. Bleeding the clutch makes this a non DIY for me...

So: can I just bleed the calipers like I did after a DE day and ignore the clutch or is the clutch bleed a must?

I read here that bleeding the clutch is simple but I dont have the self confidence required to go that far... I am ok with caliper bleeding using a motive but not much more

thanks

You don't have to bleed the clutch, but its highly recommended that you do. If you decide not to bleed the clutch, don't touch the clutch pedal while you are bleeding the brakes. Brakes and clutch share the same reservoir and when bleeding the brakes, the level in the reservoir may go down to the point that if you use the clutch, it will introduce air into the clutch hydraulics.

It's a good idea to freshen up this fluid. Do a search. Someone did a good write up on this.

It's a little hard to get to but should be done just to clear 100% of the lines. If you have access to a lift--use it! Remove one of the body closure panels and then do some stretching to access it.

You should bleed/flush the clutch at least once every season.
