Hello,

I took my 997.2 to the dealer for its 40,000 mile service and they used PENNZOIL ULTRA™ EURO 5W-40 FULL SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL instead of Mobile 1 0W-40.

I didn't get to talk about this with the tech, but does anybody know if Porsche dealers in general are switching from Mobile 1 to Pennzoil?

They use Pennzoil at my dealer here in Nashville as well.

Where are you finding the Euro 5W-40? I'm not finding this particular weight in my city.

Dealer here just changed from Mobil 1 0W-40 to Castrol Edge 5W-40

Porsche approved, on the list. Probably cheaper (less marketing dollars spent).

It's "Mobil," not "Mobile."

Exactly....nobody carries the Pennzoil Euroblend. You'll probably be able to buy a quart at the dealership. I noticed a rack of the stuff at my dealership.

Yeah, my invoice showed that the cost for oil was only $5 per quart.

i personally like the ultra (the marketing guys are weighing on me). I wish they had 0 weights.

5-40 is plentiful here in Texas.

My dealer in Woodbridge, ON didn't switch, but they offer Castrol Syntec 5W-40 IN ADDITION TO Mobil1 0W-50 now.

Dealer here in N. VA also switched to Pennzoil 5W-40.

Another thing to note about this service is that my dealer charged me $1,100 and they changed the sparked plugs. Again, this was a 40,000 mile service for a 997.2.

I've seen some debates as to when spark plugs are changed for 997.1's so I thought I would share this.
