Has anyone seen anything like this before? I noticed this the day after I purchased my 2009 997.2 C2S when I was detailing it. It is on the passenger door, almost center and just above the bottom of the door. At first I thought it was a huge scratch but it is has full clear coat over it, it is almost like the paint faded in a 1 inch long and .25 inch high oval. It is also not all one "depth" as it really fades into the paint on the edges. The car is midnight blue and this really seems to be from the factory. The car had a fully clean carfax, so no accidents and the dealer was straight up with me that the front bumper and hood were resprayed due to rock chipping (I didn't mind) and that the drivers side rear quarter had a few door dings taken out and filled in. They provided me all records. This is not instantly noticable because it does blend in and is low on the car but it does seem to be a flaw with the actual factory paint, almost like the sun has faded it. Is there a warranty on the paint of the car? Advise appreciated.
Looks like a scratch from something thrown up by the front tire.
My guess is most of it would buff out, but hard to tell from the pic.
That's just it, it seems like one but it isn't one. It is perfectly smooth and even with the rest of the door. One thing I am sure of is it is not a scratch. It is like the paint below the clear coat faded.
Many times they need to blend paint so if the squirted the side of the car it is probably a paint or clear coat run. If it's a clear coat run then you can sand it and polish it.
