Default Shocks for 997.1 - advice

Hi everyone

I installed a couple of days ago H&R springs on the stock shocks and on the same day one of them broke and is leaking all around. So I need to buy new shocks to fit the H&R's.
My car is 997.1S with PASM but without sport suspension or chassis. I saw the Bilstein B8 has an option for cars with PASM but they say that it's for cars with PASM, electronic suspension control and sport suspension. It is a shorter version for lowered cars... So will these B8's work with the H&R springs? If so, are these B8's compatible with my car ?(as it only has PASM, no sport suspension BUT will be lowered) Or maybe even lowered, the car must have factory sport suspension?
The seller I talked to told me he was not really sure and never tried that combinaison - he told me to go with the B6's also for PASM but without sport suspension (worried that they can fail like the stock one), so I'm looking for some help
I know I should have go with the B16 from the beginning but wanted to save some bucks and here is the result

Thanks

The shocks you see for PASM have the same cable that you plug into the PASM control unit to go from normal to sport shock settings. The only aftermarket shocks that do this are the Bilstein Damptronics and they come with springs....complete set up ready to bolt on.

Your stock PASM shocks are not designed to take lowering springs and can blow out a seal.

So your 2 options are:
replace broke shock with stock shock and go back to stock springs
replace all 4 shocks with Bilstein Damptronics (sell H&R springs).
replace all 4 shocks with non-PASM shocks offered in various brands and use you H&R springs but you will have to have shocks valved to your current spring specs.

If this was me and I wanted to retain normal and sport shock button I'd sell the H&R springs, and get the Damptronics....or if I wanted something better and more track orientated I'd sell the H&R springs and get KW, Moton, AST, Ohlins, JRZ coil over system.

Thanks for the reply

I agree with what you said..but when you are talking about damptronics, I guess you are talking about these ones : http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt65_8...16-DampTronic/
I am asking because according to bilstein's website, there are also B6 and B8 damptronics which are compatible with PASM (shocks only) : http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt65_2...-PASM-Button-/
and http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt65_2...-PASM-Button-/
So yes, the B16 would be the easiest and safest way - but I'm trying to check if the above B6/B8 would be compatible with the H&R's and my car in general.

Yes correct there are the (yellow) non-height adjustable Damptronics and there are the (silver/blue) height adjustable Damptronics. You would deed to check with Bilstein and see if H&R lowering sprigs can be used with the non-height adjustable (yellow) shocks.

Yep I will try to check compatibility. Otherwise I'll go with the ajustable B16's and sell the H&R's.

Thanks again

All the best...I've been looking into height adjustable coilovers for my GTS which has the Carrera S sport PASM.

Eibach are springs that should be used. I never heard of anybody who used eibach set on stock shocks and had problems.
You can send your shocks to bilstein for repair and re-valve for stiffer springs, it will cost less than new coilover set.

OK, so I didn't found any precise informations for the B8/H&R combo so went the safest way and just ordered the B16 Damptronics.

So I have a set of H&R's for C2S for sale with barely 100-150 km. PM me if interested.

If you go the stock route check on fleebay for a cheap used set. I just swapped out my suspension (stock for stock) due to a leaking shock. I got a barely used set off another member for nearly nothing.
