Default Guarantee and Maintenance booklet -is this any use?

Dear All

I have had water ingress problems on 3 successive Porsches now - 968 coupe, 996 cabriolet and now 997 cabriolet

On each occasion I have had to have the problem sorted via OPC and it has cost me several thousands - ECU and telephone modules being damaged by water

I wrote to customer care as I feel that this is possibly a design fault

It is not easy to get to the rear drainage channels and I had asked an OPC why these channels were not cleared of debris at service and it was stated that they are not easily accessible

However, Customer Care have replied:

"All Porsche Centres are aware they should check all drains as part of a
vehicle service, or at the very least, offer this service to the customer.
Further to this, an inspection of the drains will take place when a
customer arranges a Long-Life Guarantee Inspection at a Porsche Centre.
This inspection should be completed 2 years after delivery of a new Porscheand repeated annually. Information regarding the above is documented inthe Guarantee and Maintenance booklet supplied with the vehicle."

My vehicle has this all stamped up though my handbook states that this is necessary every TWO years. all my vehcle have been maintained by OPC

I have NEVER been asked if I wanted these drainage channels cleared

My 997 has spent most of the last winter and a lot of 2012 in my garage. When it is in the open my other vehicles (Merc ML, Audi TT, Toyota Yaris and a Nissan) share the same drive where there is a tree - none have suffered from water ingress problems

I have complained but have been essentially fobbed off

Is there any point complaining any further?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated

Talat
