Advice Requested in my search for an 09' in PDK
Hello All-
I am completely new to this forum and the realm of Porsches..I would like some expert advice on finding the best priced Certified' 09' 911 base model (not S or higher) in PDK (my manual days are over) as my budget would be around $60-$70K.
Since I like to purchase one anytime btw now until December, I am not in a rush, so any advice on best timing due to depreciation especially with the new 2013 911 body styles out is much appreciated.
Some local dealers have these listed anywhere from $66-$75K Certified pre-owned here in NorCAL, and I like to know what some good mileage (10K vs 30K mile car, etc.) on these vehicles should be for an 09' and the better pricing out the door one should expect now or in December, etc.
Lastly, despite these being Certified pre-owned, are there specific mechanical areas I should check for when purchasing this model and year, etc?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my newby questions and for your input

i sold my 09 PDK in 2010 for 64k
im sure you can find one now for less, if you like white the "launch" model was white on grey, pdk... and tons out there so should be cheaper to buy...
again mine was private sale, 18k miles, 09PDK sold in 10' 64k....
if you want a 991, stretch your budget 10k and i'll sell you mine for 82k (yes im serious)
as far as what to look out for, the 997.2 doesnt have many faults... just check for paint work and interior marring and you should be fine, the clutch doesnt wear and brakes were upgraded for 997.2 s your good to go. the DFI engine has half the moving parts and no RMS.. so not really any engine woes.... id say maybe just check and make sure the fuel system is working properly as some had HPFP issues, but most were remedied under warranty, also there was a pdk update that most should have that makes the downshift to 1st smoother.

Thanks so much for the advice and input, appreciate the pricing guidelines and info re the PDK update. That's quite a dealer CPO mark up around here in California considering they're asking $66k and up for CPO's and it's 2012 compared to what you sold yours in 2010 for =( I wanted piece of mind with the purchase so going the CPO route, also there's more selection from dealers as in color ..not too many private party sales for the 09's and being a newby to Porsches, I wouldnt know where to start when it comes to inspecting a used private party one ..
Sticking to the budget, many thanks for the generous offer on your 991 =)

And here's another green one. Porsche Racing Green with the tan interior was one of the launch colors for the S. I bought mine - an "09 C2S in 2010 with 9600 miles for $69k. Found it at a dealer in Palm Springs. Bought it in November; conventional wisdom says fall or winter is the best time to buy a sports car.

I think the dealers are jacking up prices. I just checked KBB for a base Carrera with PDK and 20k miles. Came in at about $66k for dealer pricing.
The one I bought was listed at $78.5k, I negotiated down to $69k. Don't fall in love with one particular car, keep looking 'till you find the right car at the right price.
Where in NorCal are you?

Make sure the car has sports chrono, it's a must with PDK. Although you can add it after the fact. PDK without SC is terrible. I'd say 30k miles would get you around 60 or even a bit lower depending on options and conditions. Make sure they have replaced the HPFP under warranty. It's a great car. For $70k, you should be able to do an S, which I would lean towards..

I paid $62k for a 09' PDK with 24K mile and CPO'ed in March. It's a stripper, Base Carrera. No power seats or NAV. But Sport Chrono which was a must for me. Could careless about NAV because never used it in my 997.1. Wanted power seats but now realize I never move them anyway after they are set.
Dealer's asking price was $72K. Yes, $72K which was just stupid. It wasn't an emotional purchase for me. I was happy with my 997.1 at the time so about every 2-3 weeks I would email my offer. After about 60 days we had a deal.
During my search the Green launch S cars were everywhere. I wanted Black but recall thinking if I wanted one of those there was about 10 at dealers I could have dealt on.
I remember Rileys white car and was just stunned and disappointed about how long it took to sell at an increadible price.

in summer of 2009, the white launch cars were selling new near me for 58-62K, and i had seen a few green C2s PDK launch cars in the 72-74k range. The 991 cars are out and the dealers are trying to get as much as they can for 997, after the 991 reaches a greater degree of availability/market saturation, the market for 997 cars will drop, just like 996 cars did. consider that i just bought a 991 for 8% off a well optioned C2 7MT after shopping it for a week. the market for 08's C2 cars is low mid 50's retail in the dc area (not at dealer) so 09 pdk should be in the high 50 low 60's and S cars a few k more as Mark Harris said

Happy Friday 997.2 experts ..
Wanted to see what you all thought of this one (it seems to have the options I need which were PDK and NAV), and how much do you think the dealer would go down to (or right price I should get it for)..looks like the rim(s) are scratched, etc

As always thanks for your advice!
