what is the last year that porsche had the opening quarter windows?

My 2006 cab (997.1) has it, so I assume the 997.2 models do also. That would make the last year 2012?

Yes, 77, some say it was to ensure that the vehicle would be safer (they were easy to open from the outside) but the reality was that they were cheaper. In 1976 they put them in the 912E to save money. Found out that with a/c as virtually in every car they made, the rear quarter windows were no longer needed. Personally, I think in a coupe that they were a terrific design. With side windows down and those open you had great ventilation and little buffeting.
