I wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I recently purchased a 997s, that if I did it correctly, you will see some pictures attached. My last car was a 987 Boxster that I had for 5 years, and prior to that was a C-4 that I had for 10. I live in the Seattle area, and plan to start getting active again with the PCA, and hit a few track days.
I participated on Pedro's Boxster Board for the past 5 years. I have a number of questions on the 997, and will post them as I go along. Looking forward to joining the discussion. [IMG]

I read quite a few comparisons on Pedro's Board, and they were spot on. The 997 is a much more serious and hardcore car. Tighter clutch, shifter, suspension ect. Power is almost not comarable. Going from 2.7 to 3.8 liters of displacment is like a whole different world. The 987 is much more playful and easy to drive, and in certain situations, more fun. The big surprise, although I read this, was that the 987 has a better ride on the highway than the 997.
All that being said, cars are a hobby for me. As much as I enjoyed the 987, especially coming off a C-4 coupe, there just was not the same level of passion around owning it.

Welcome to Rennlist . I too moved from a Boxster (2001 S) to a 997 (2007 C4S). I loved the mid-engined handling and for a long time missed it. But over time I have grown to love the 997. While the 911 has the panache and the long-lived reputation of being THE Porsche to own, I still feel that the Boxster is the best bang for the buck (and the most fun!). It is much more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow ! The new 991, two of which I recently drove, is so capable and fast that you don't get any feeling of speed until well over triple digit speeds. It is cushy and feels luxurious. The 997 feels more sports car-like and more raw (read more fun). Looking forward to driving the new 981...........
