Cab vs coupe?
I drove a buddy's 07 cab a few weeks back and LOVED it. I feel cramped in my coupe and am considering jumping over into a C4S or TT cab. Any thoughts on those that have a cab. How often do you drop the top? Your thoughts please...

Hi, I'm Stefan and I have a ragtop addiction.
I'm on my fourth and I can't be without it. I have it down any chance I get, which is why heated seats are a must. I capitulate when it gets north of a 100deg or south of 40 and when I can't outdrive the rain. Keep in mind I live just north of NYC, so some people might argue it's not convertible territory. Still I drive the droptop 2/3 of my yearly mileage.
Anyway, convertibles are more expensive, heavier, don't look as good with the top up and have more stuff to break. All of that is irrelevant when the top comes down.
Oh and there are a lot fewer on the market than coupes

Maybe not a fair question for me to handle as I'm a cab guy from way back!!!! Porsches, Triumphs, MGs, Fiats etc. Never liked coupes.
Now that being said I still put the top down as much as I can....any day that's halfway nice the roof is down...I never miss the chance and it never, ever gets old and I'm 64 years young! To take an early evening drive down to the beach on a gorgeous, warm summer evening.........nothing like it!
I know to each his own but I could never figure out (and still can't) why if you have a choice whether to drive with no roof or a roof you'd choose roof????
That's my feeling.....Love those cabs

I've had coupes/sedans up until purchasing the Spyder. Now that I've had a taste of a drop top I can say that I'll likely never go without. It enhances the driving experience in every way and the only drawback I've found is higher road noise at highway speeds with the top up. Since I rarely put the top up this is hardly a drawback to me.
Go for it!

if weather permits you to drive at least 50% with top down - why not.

Wow. Thanks guys. Just what I thought. I forgot to mention that, err, due to local police speed enforcement I'm looking for more DRAMA with less speed. I think the cab may be just the answer. You track-heads out there may have a point in saying "go to the track and get yer need fer speed fix" but time permitting, the cab looks to be the answer.

My first real cabriolet is this one. Porsche has learned a lot on how to build a cabriolet. No plastic windows, no rain getting in, great insulation... Buy the cabriolet. It has unlimited headroom. I put the top down a lot.

My path is similar to TommyV, having owned a varied collection of British soft tops ... the Cab was a natural choice for me.
I'll confess its not my daily driver. Its kind of my weather/appropriate car (apologies to the hardcore) so the top stays down when the warm weather arrives and its stored the 3 months of winter.
The open air driving just adds to the fun of driving a Porsche. If you can find a nice Cab.... go for it!

I had two cabs, BMW Z3 then M3, prior to my C2S coupe. On perfect days I do miss the open cab. All the other days I'm very glad to have engine sound as my background hymnal vs. the creaking cab noise. No matter what I did my BMW cabs always creaked. Fun at 1st but irritated over time... just made the car sound cheap. Hopefully Porsche did a better job with the 911 cabs then BMW. I've consider a cab myself so would like to hear from the cab owners about any creaking issues with the cab.
