Dan,

That picture brings back so many memories!

It sold me on that color combo and, as they say, the rest is history!!

Thanks,

Tom

I went from an 06 coupe to an 09 cab.
We had the top down last night.
Here in AZ, the ventilated seats are a wonderful option.

Keep the top down most of the time. FYI With top up, rear and rear quarter visibility sucks.

i guess it depends heavily on what you prefer...

i have owned several convertibles, BUT i rarely would put the top down... also have owned several vehicles with sunroofs and rarely even open them... comes down to the fact that i personally do not like the sun in my face and this is why we have visors and use them..

if you want a convertible however the 997/991 is a great vehicle for this... i loved on my cab how the top seamlessly went down (not ugly when down)... also liked how you can lower and raise up to ~35mph...

that being said my dislikes besides the sun was the extra weight of vehicle and lack of rigidity... also in hot climates the heat will penetrate the car regardless of where you park (shade/sun)... my interior was always hot versus my coupe's where i find they were much better insulated.

again, these are my opinions... i had a removeable top on my exige and removed it once in 18 months and that was at night.

At the age of 32 yo I bought my first ragtop, a '97 miata. After all of the time my dad and I had spent talking about cars, musing and dreaming, I couldn't believe he'd never filled me in on what an amazing experience convertibles offer. He said that in his day they were excited when they could afford a car with ac, at which time convertibles fell out of fashion.
I've always owned a convertible since that time, and I'm currently on my second 997 cab. The 997 cabs give up very little to the coupe in stiffness, but offer the option of top down motoring when desired. Sure, a few more creaks and rattles are to be expected, but it's an acceptable trade-off imo. Also, when it comes to selling a sports car or muscle car, convertibles are always more desirable. Unless you plan on tracking, go topless.

Cabriolet all the way. I live in Westchester, and my top is down 90% of the time. The only time it's up is when it's sub 40F, or inclement weather. I drove it this evening with light rain falling. With the windows and wind guard up no rain got in, so long as we were moving.

Cabs are wonderful for those warm, summer evenings. Coupes will always be more desirabe long term, though.

Look at the air cooled cars and see how long it takes cabs and Targas to sell compared to coupes. You also see many WTB ads looking for coupes but very few for cabs or Targas.

Probably wan't be an issue for the 997s for another 20 years...

I like the color combo on the turbo, but that engine will not be helpful with keeping your speed down...

Coupe for me. I had many conv. my last one was a e46 M3 cab. But when I bought my first porsche, a 993, the convertible just didn't look as good (as far as the classic lines) That's a personal preference, I love convertibles just not on my porsche.

I think you nailed it with this statement... I really like my Cab as a DD as it sounds great "within the gov't limits" of street driving... Now for a really fun time, I have the coupe for the track. That is another experience entirely!

Of those 3, the GTS cab is my fav. Nice choices though.
Topless is like an instant vacation, and easier to make happen than a boat.

But in contrast to horses and boats, surely the cab doesn't follow the 'best two days of your life' rule, right?
