Default Cab Car Wash?

Okay - 2008 cab original owner, always hand washed. Never taken to the "brushless" car wash place. In a pinch, or maybe more frequently, is this a real bad idea or now that the car is+4 years old and no longer quite perfect, does it really matter?

Who takes their cab to the wash?

Owners manual says not to use any automatic car wash. I think it has to do with the material the top is made of.

I wouldn't take my Porsche of any age to an automatic car wash - ever. It's just not good for the paint or the top, regardless of the age.

I generally wash my '07 Cab, but in a pinch, I will take it to a local hand wash place, where the guys wear mitts and hand wash the car. My rear tire barely fits on the track, but in the dead of winter, it's really the only option.

I would never... with a cab or my coupe. Like my son says... it's such a small car it's easy to wash.

Owning a 911 and washing it by hand is one of the absolute pleasures of ownership.....

Back in the day.... I seen my wife take hers through a car wash. The top looked like it was going to blow up when going through the air drier

Interesting consensus here...

I do take my 997S Cab through the car wash, and have done so repeatedly for the last 18 months of ownership. I can report that the top is fine, and looks better now than it did when I purchased the car. Living in an extreme environment, I rely on a car wash to get off the road salt once per week. The car has been a tank.

To be truthful, I hand wash the car every 6 months or so and condition the top. To me, this car is a DD and will be treated as such.
