Default Headlight Washers!

so i only just picked up my 997.2 a few weeks ago, and have been reading the manual inside out to figure out if theres anything i miss (annoyances such as no one touch close on the sunroof or the passenger window--except when half way on that one, but dont get why my cayenne can have one touch close on stuff and this wont, but i digress)

anyhow i was going to get it washed on saturday so on thurs & fri i decided id drive through the rain and splash through puddles and get it dirty and have fun considering its getting washed the next day. i figured this was a good time to test out the headlight washers.

so i turned on the headlights, stood by the drivers door and while bent towards the front of the car so i can peer and watch how the jets hit the headlights, i pressed the button under the wiper stalk to activate them. HOLY HELL!

i ended up SOAKED with wiper fluid, my face and hair was covered in the blue stuff, my ENTIRE hood was soaked, as well it going inside the car by shootin up in the air into the sunroof and open windows, and also landing all over the back windshield. had i not know i was getting it washed in a few hours i wouldve been piiiiiissssed.

funny thing is that the bird crap that was on one headlight remained lol. but the entire car was ccovered.

im going to fear this thing automatically activating every x times if and when i ever use the windshield washer! jeez. those things are powerful

The headlight washers are designed to be used while the car is in motion/at speed. I guess you have figured this out by now. Had you been driving at speed, the washers would have hit the headlights and the excess spray would have blown past the roof.

The sunroof is a one touch close/open... maybe the switch needs to re-learn... I never use the headlight washers. The fluid will eat the polycarbonate finish on the headlights.

Sorry but that doesn't make any sense. Why would Porsche supply a fluid that damages the headlights? They'd have no end of warranty claims.

Now if you replaced it with non-OEM fluid I could understand there being a problem.

its better to take out all the headlite and windshield fluids and replace them with distilled water. it wont stain the car everytime you use them

I have an 09 and my sunroof is not one touch ? is there a way to re-set the sunroof to one touch open ?

My fault, it does have one touch open, but not one touch close

I have a 2011...and don't enjoy the lack of one-touch close...

What's this about re-teaching the feature?

the fluid is made for glass, not polycarbonate.... it takes a while to eat thru the headlights. check any un restored headlight from a 2005-06, you will notice the splash pattern haziness on the headlights... specially on the top, ribbed area.

Never used this feature in 4+ years - seems like a complete waste?
