Default Would you buy a 09 with 70000 miles?

Went by the dealer yesterday and they had a 2009 BLK/BLK 997 with PDK. The car was purchased there, and has a full service history from this dealer. Car was traded in for a new 991. The car is loaded, looks and drives like new. I am having trouble getting past the mileage. They want 49ish and they will not CPO it. It just seems like a steal if the PPI is good. Happy Memorial day. Graham

So the cars about 3 years old (young). That's about 23,000 miles per year. Not a BIG deal. If properly maintained, solid PPI and properly priced you could be getting a great car and a great deal.

Why won't they CPO it? Try to get this in the deal.

That car seems like a good deal. It's a C2S with PDK and sport chrono and Nav. Those cars with 20k miles are selling for high 60s to low 70s. That's some nice savings for a car driven and maintained. Does it have new tires ?

They will not CPO it due to mileage, they just want to unload it. Tires and brake are in good shape not sure if they would pass CPO, dealership doesn't want to incur the additional cost. It appears they will not make much money off this car. It is nice, I have been looking at 05-07s with similar pricing, this just caught my eye. Graham

Yes they will, that is how they afford to have marble tile in their showrooms. They didn't want this car in the first place. Trade on a 991 or not they didn't want it. There are probably not any Manhiem results for this high of mileage 09' so they didn't have much to go on to protect themselves except a very safe margin on trade in valuation.

Give them a low ball offer and walk away. They will come back to you. Very, very small audience for this car because based on mileage it's out of warranty. Not a concern for us Porschephiles but it is a PDK and while I have complete faith in mine if that blows up out of warranty there goes all your savings over a lower mileage car.

Graham,

Based on your user name, location, and avatar, in the event you are serving our country I greatly appreciate you and all others on this fourm who have allowed me to sleep safely ever night in our free country. Happy Memorial Day.

I wouldn't but I'm willing to pay more for something with much less miles.

Thanks,

I am lucky to do what I do. It is the greatest job in the world. However, sometimes my wife doesn't always think so......

If you tend to do little mileage then it may work, if you intend to rack the miles then I'd leave it and get a lower milage car.

My wife and I were just at that dealer yesterday picking up my new to me 2009 blue/tan C2S. We may have been there at the same time. Good dealer, they bent over backwards to ensure my car got the Sport Software and Universal Audio Interface installed successfully in my car in less than 36 hours after starting negotiations.

Get a DME report. It will tell you how many hours are on the engine(mileage divide by hrs = mph avg.) and look for over revs about range 1 and 2. I'm a proponent of cars with higher mileage over a short time. Typically it's a hwy driven car so hopefully not driven hard on the track, will feel near new from a cabin wear-n-tear perspective - stop-n-go miles much worst on wear overall, and especial one that has been maintenance at the p-dealer your buy from - that way you can get the service/maintenance history. These cars are typically hard to move for the p-dealer and tend to sit on the lot thus the attractive price point. I purchased my '08 C2S with 45K miles and CPO last year for that price. Loving it everyday and DIY will save you thousands. Review the dealer's service record but you may need to be prepared to have the following items served: oil/filter change, flush brake fluid, flush coolant, inspect/replace coils/spark plugs, replace air filter, and replace cabin filter. Renntech.org will have the maintenance schedule... perhaps another point of negotiation with the p-dealer to see what they might address upfront for you. GLW the search and you may have a young diamond in the rough with this one. Semper Fi.

I think that you need a fat wallet and strong stomach to own any recent model 911 without a warranty.

Why do you say that? Any personal experiences to share?

I did note your signature - nice to see you put your 911 DDs through the paces!
