I may leave the car the way it is

Porsche labor costs a lot. That is why so many of us turn into semi-decent mechanics.
Get spring compressor, then search here and on renntech and you can do this job yourself. Rear strut is easier to do if you have second pair of hands available.

My guy charged $400 for a spring install and $115 alignment. Indy shop though. A spring swap is not rocket science.

I paid Porsche San Antonio $800 for the installation of coil overs and $200 for alignment; they at least hand washed the car.
The labor for springs versus coil overs was roughly the same. I bought a set of H&R Springs and opted to not install them (sold the set) for a new set of H&R Coil Overs.

My local indy charges $90/hr and my dealer, iirc, $125/hr. There are some high prices out in other areas of the country! Though I wouldn't be surprised if the guys here would somehow add a few extra hours so that, in the end, it ends up being $800 + or - anyways.

4 hr job for a shop, tops. I did my 996 suspension twice. The first time a bit over 4 hrs., the second time around 3 hrs in my garage. $200 is not bad for a GOOD alignment.

I paid $600 with 2 alignments (original + one a couple K to check after settling). From a Porsche specialty shop Indy mechanic.
Suspension is not hard, but you need the right tools, and a good spring compressor is key (to buy or rent).
It is about 4hrs labor.

Bring it 2 hours west to Karl then take it to Aristocrat for alignment. Aristocrat's alignment is $149. You can have my 997 for the day while Karl does yours if you want. Or I can get a bunch of wrenchers together on a Sat. and we can do both of ours together at the same time.
I'm going to do mine but just get some help from my local gang. Plus Karl usually shows up to supervise anyway.

Gerald,
Your stance looks great. Thats the look I want. Are those 19" wheels? Are your running spacers? I just picked up 15mm & 7mm.

As others have said, it is a fairly straightforward weekend project, or one afternoon if you are fully prepared.
I've done it twice on my 997. There are good instructions on Renntech.

Exact same work either way. You have to remove the strut/shock unit to replace the springs or to replace the whole thing with coil overs.
