I think there is something wrong with our horn...It kinda "peeps"
I remember a much better sound on the older aircooled cars...I think I remember air horns?
Whats up with that?

I think there are two horns. One of them has probably gone bad leaving you with only one and an anemic sound. The bumper has to come off to repair. If you are not out of warranty bring it into dealer to fix. If you are out of warranty, then you have to decide. I'd probably blow it off if it was me. I had mine fixed ("R/R low horn") under warranty as part of my final punch list for Porsche just prior to expiration. Good luck.

My horn sounds like the roadrunner only 15 octaves higher.
Sounds like what a SMART car should have.
You can buy a new one at suncoast with two different pitches but as long as it works, just deal with the sound.

I owned a 2007 997S, 2008 997S, and my current 2012 GTS. I had a horn fail on the 2007, and now on the 2012. I don't understand how Porsche could be using such crappy horns. I figured when one failed on my 2007 that they probably just got a bad batch of horns from a supplier, and the bad ones would eventually be eliminated. I can't believe that this is still an issue. I have never had a horn fail on any other car I have owned at any price.

There are (2) horns located behind the front bumper cover (passenger side). The cover must be removed to service them.
One is a 'treble' horn while the other is a 'bass' horn. My 'bass' horn failed months ago which results in a 'girly' high pitch beep. Almost embarrassed to use it in my 'manly' 997. I did replace it w/ an OEM horn and now I get the 'manly' toot or honk.
Would be a great bit on the old Tim Allen Show (ruff).
