Default Is PSE repairable?

PSE is making a rattling sound at low end of rpm's.
I've been told that it can either be loose baffles or the on/off flap on the muffler itself that is causing this rattle.
Does anyone know if a PSE with either of the aboave can be repaired?

It probably can be repaired, but it would need to be cut open to access the loose item or the flap. Once fixed, the side of the muffler that was removed will need to be welded back on the muffler.

It may be worth a try. I would "guess" it would cost about $200 +/- to have this done.

I'd take the POS PSE off and get some better mufflers.

If it as simple as the valve you could get it replaced, I think. Or you remove it which shouldn't be too hard to do and you'd be left with sport on all of the time. Which is where a large percentage of the people have it set most of the time.

Next up a new set of mufflers. FVD, Tubi, Sharkwerks, AWE to name a few.

Last but not least someone on one of the lists recently had a set of PSEs from a 997.1 for sale, said cheap.

Thanks for your feedback, I'll be acting on this rather quickly - rattle is really annoying me.

Default Catalytic Converter ?

It might be your catalytic converter. I have replaced both of mine in my 05 C2S. When the car is cold, hit the converters with your fist. If either one is bad, it will sound like broken glass or marbles. If it's the left one, I have a spare with less than 1K miles to sell if your interested.

My 08 C2S had a broken tip which rattled. Indy who did the PPI thought it was an issue with the exhaust originally. U might want to check out the tips by removing them to see if the rattle goes away.

Thanks for the suggestion. I took the tips off but the rattle under throttle was still there.

If you are lucky it could be a cat. Per DOT regulations, they are warrantied for 8 years/80,000 miles whichever comes first.

Like Gota911 suggested... this may be the cats and it's covered by federal/state requirements of auto manufactures regardless of warranty or CPO status. Our old BMW '98 540i had this issue and I had to argue with the dealer to cover it under warranty. They wanted $1,200 to replace them at 1st and actually denied the existence of such a reg. I had to call BMW America to force the issue. BTW, a local BMW indy(Black Forest Werkshop) provided me with all the insight so I could work with the dealer at no charge... the dealer was completely useless and eventually capitulated but they SNAFU'd the job, tried to make some other false claims re existing condition... required multiple trips before they got it right and w/o cost to me. FYI, if it's the cats... it's more of a knocking sound.

I've got a similar rattle in the PSE..although it's more of a raspy metallic sound. I have been thinking it might be a loose heat shield but this thread leads me to believe it's something else.

I've been hearing this sound for several years...it used to go away when the car warmed up but now its much more frequent.

I've been running PSE in the loud mode all the time for the past six years.

Wonder if the great guys at FD Motorsports could fix this? If they can, pay extra, and have it come back with a nice Black Velvet Ceramic coating.
